The major indices on Wall Street closed mixed, with the Dow Jones finishing slightly higher, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite ended in negative territory. Trading volume remained subdued following the Christmas holiday. Earlier in the day, the Dow Jones had been moving lower. Investors showed enthusiasm over the so-called Santa Claus rally, which typically occurs during the final five trading days of the year and the first two trading days of January. Thursday marked the second day of this rally. Meanwhile, last week's initial claims data showed 219,000 unemployment claims, lower than the expected 225,000. However, continuing claims increased to 1.91 million, the highest level since November 2021. Gold prices rose amid increased demand for safe-haven assets, while crude oil prices weakened due to the strengthening of the U.S. dollar.

The JCI closed lower by 0.43% at 7065 on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. The technology sector saw the largest correction, while the healthcare sector posted the strongest gains. Foreign investors recorded a net sell of IDR 230.17 billion, including in the non regular market. For today’s trading, the JCI is expected to move within a support range of 7030/7000 and a resistance range of 7150/7190. Stock picks: TLKM, ISAT, EXCL, BRPT, CPIN, ICBP.
