The major indices on U.S. market closed higher amid thin trading volumes as the Christmas holiday approaches. The NYSE will close early on Christmas Eve (Tuesday) and remain closed on Christmas Day (Wednesday). Technology sector stocks led the index gains. However, at the start of trading, the Dow Jones index briefly weakened due to weaker-than-expected economic data. The U.S. consumer confidence index for December fell to 104.7, its lowest level since September and below the forecasted level of 113. Durable goods orders declined by 1.1% in November, marking the largest drop since June. Meanwhile, crude oil prices weakened due to concerns over an oversupply of oil and the strengthening U.S. dollar. Gold prices also corrected as a result of rising U.S. Treasury yields and a stronger U.S. dollar.

The JCI closed 1.61% higher at 7096 on Monday, December 23, 2024. The healthcare sector posted the largest gains, while the energy sector saw the biggest correction. Foreign investors recorded a net sell of IDR 395.28 billion, including in the non-regular market. On today's trading, JCI is expected to trade within a support range of 7030/7000 and a resistance range of 7150/7190.
