Indeks di bursa Wall Street ditutup variatif dimana indeks Dow Jones ditutup menguat sedangkan indeks S&P500 dan Nasdaq Composite ditutup melemah. Indeks Dow Jones ditutup menguat pada hari ke sembilan berturut-turut. Penguatan indeks Dow Jones antara lain ditopang oleh laporan keuangan Johnson & Johnson yang lebih baik dari estimasi. Kinerja keuangan. Netflix dan Tesla yang di bawah perkiraan mendorong pelemahan pada indeks S&P500 dan Nasdaq Composite. Namun sebanyak 74% emiten dalam indeks S&P500 yang telah merilis laporan keuangan hingga saat ini membukukan kinerja yang melebihi perkiraan. Sementara itu harga minyak mentah sedikit menguat seiring dengan penurunan data cadangan minyak AS yang lebih rendah dari perkiraan. Harga emas melemah akibat penguatan dollar AS dan yield US-Treasury.

IHSG pada perdagangan Kamis 20 Juli 2023 ditutup menguat 0,50% pada level 6864. Saham sektor energi membukukan kenaikan terbesar, sedangkan saham sektor teknologi mengalami koreksi terbesar. Investor asing mencatatkan net buy Rp593,10 miliar termasuk transaksi di pasar non reguler.
