Indeks di bursa Wall Street ditutup mix dalam kisaran sempit, di mana indeks Dow Jones ditutup menguat tipis, sedangkan indeks S&P500 dan Nasdaq Composite ditutup di area negatif. Yield US-Treasury dengan tenor 10 tahun kembali mengalami kenaikan setelah data penjualan ritel AS lebih baik dari perkiraan. Kenaikan yield obligasi akibat kekhawatiran pasar bahwa The Fed akan menaikkan suku bunga lebih lama dari perkiraan sebelumnya. Pasar juga mempertimbangkan seberapa besar dampak konflik Israel-Hamas terhadap ekonomi. Namun awal earning season triwulan III yang bagus, meredakan kekhawatiran pasar. Harga minyak mentah dan emas menguat karena dampak perang Israel-Hamas.

IHSG pada perdagangan Selasa 17 Oktober 2023 ditutup menguat 0,63% pada level 6939. Saham sektor infrastruktur membukukan penguatan terbesar, sedangkan saham sektor consumer cyclical mengalami koreksi terbesar. Investor asing mencatatkan net sell Rp323,43 miliar termasuk transaksi di pasar non reguler.
