The Wall Street indices closed mixed on Friday's trading session. The Dow Jones and S&P 500 ended lower, while the Nasdaq Composite closed in positive territory. Markets are awaiting the upcoming Federal Reserve meeting this week, where investors are speculating whether the Fed will lower interest rates by 0.25%, following the CPI index in line with expectations and the PPI index exceeding estimates. The US dollar strengthened ahead of the Fed meeting due to concerns that the Fed may not continue with interest rate cuts this time. As a result, gold prices and most other commodities experienced corrections. However, crude oil prices rose due to expectations that additional sanctions on Russia and Iran will reduce supply, while the anticipated interest rate cuts from the ECB and the Fed are expected to boost demand.
The JCI closed down by 0.95% on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 7,324. All sectors experienced corrections, with the biggest decline seen in the basic materials sector. Foreign investors recorded a net sell of IDR 1.39 trillion, including in the non-regular market. For today's trading, JCI is expected to move within the support range of 7,260/7,200 and resistance range of 7,350/7,380. Stock picks: ISAT, ASII, TLKM, UNTR, INCO, PGAS, ICBP.
