Indeks di bursa Wall Street ditutup mix, di mana indeks Dow Jones dan S&P500 ditutup menguat, sedangkan Nasdaq Composite ditutup di area negatif. Pasar mencari petunjuk lebih lanjut untuk memperkirakan kapan The Fed akan mulai menurunkan suku bunga acuan. Yield US-Treasury melanjutkan penurunan. Namun penguatan indeks terbatas akibat adanya beberapa laporan keuangan dan panduan proyeksi beberapa emiten yang dibawah perkiraan.

IHSG pada perdagangan Selasa 7 Mei 2024 ditutup melemah 0,17% pada level 7123. Saham sektor transportasi mengalami koreksi terbesar, sedangkan saham sektor basic materials membukukan penguatan terbesar. Investor asing mencatatkan net sell Rp715,64 miliar termasuk transaksi di pasar non regular.
